gimmicks in job applications?
I have worked for the NHS and decided to have a career change and jump into marketing. I realised that branding, PR, advertising agencies want creative people and are very specific in choosing the right candidate. I am more into account handling or strategic planning, although I don't have experience in it, so far, I have a BA in Marketing but never used it in my professional life.
If I send my CV with a very original (prospective) cover letter will I get noticed and called up for an interview or will this be my death sentence?

You have to play up your degree and your experience in the NHS. The place to start looking is a firm that could benefit by your experience there and in the health care industry. That's what you need to leverage off of.

Hi Talecon, No its a good idea, just do it right. Fill in the application (if there is one), send a professionally written concise C.V and a covering letter listing your 10 strongest points and what areas you are keen to excel in.
Never mention "no experience" say keen to adapt, learn and excel. Nothing corny about that. I used to be Head of HR for a large company until I gave it all up to surf everyday. Good luck and give it the spirit.
