WIFI Help Needed!?

Need Help, I have just set up a WI-FI network, My PC hardwired to a wireless router/modem and a wireless enabled laptop.

I have the network up and running but am finding that the router it only connects online when the PC is switched on. What i want is a system where i can use the laptop online without having to switch the PC on first. Can anybody help?

Update:

Router is a phillips SNA6500, My ISP is Karoo

    the line from ur isp.. put that in the wireless router port on LAN port. and just switch it on

    Make sure ur machine has wireless adapter (usb / pci)

    It works in my office..

    Could you give more details on your router/modem such as brand, version, etc and what is your ISP ?
