Petrol cap on Fiesta?

Help! I bought a lovely Fiesta Ghia yesterday, but today I can't get the cap off to fill it with petrol. The outer cap comes off fine with the key, but the innner cap just twists left and right, but doesn't come off.

There is obviously a knack to it - can anyone tell me what it is?

I have just tried pushing it in and turning to the left. It turns to the left, but will not push in.

Vehicle is June 2003. The handbook tells me everything except how the petrol cap works!

    The cap is usually all one piece?on the fiesta.Is what your seeing under the petrol cap not the flap to stop the wrong fuel from being put in?Try and push it down with a pen and see if it flaps to the side?Other wise need age of vehicle to be more exact?Hope this helps

    This should not happen the cap should come of without any trouble at all. Fit you have just bought it get the garage to come out where you got if from and get them to fix it pronto. Or you will stop the cheque. That should do it.
