In Photoshop, how do you make a colour transparent?

It' for a logo on a website, I want it to fuse with the page background but I cannot achieve it. (saved in jpeg format)

    Good question!

    Open the image in Photoshop and use the magic wand to select the negative space. Click on delete. The layer underneath should be a transparent layer (the checkboard looking one). Then, save the image as a GIF. JPG won't work. That should do it.

    well even though i use an older version of photoshop, i'm betting it's the same, I'm not sure that you can make colors disappear when you're going to put it on the site. Try putting the logo on top of the background and making the edges disappear on photoshop and then put it on the site.
