Automating word documents in a a question/answer style?
I've been handed the thankless task of trying to remove mundane typos/errors from our word templates at work and to stop people messing around with them. Does anyone know of a website to help me out - the best solution I can see is for a question box to appear as soon as you open the document for editing. Depending on the user's answer, this is either inserted into the document at a key point or a separately stored paragraph of text is inserted. I've tried the ASK/FILLIN fields but I think they're more for mailmerging.

It is possible to lock/protect parts of a document and allow people to fill in only the parts you want them to.
For Word 2003 see here ( http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/word/HP010447471... )
2007 - http://office.microsoft.com/en-gb/word/HP100823011...

It shouldnt take long to correct he mistakes if there are red or green underlines, simply right click on each one, quickest way to spellcheck or if you need to replace words, edit, replace.
What you need however is to change the format into a form using drop down fields, then it is locked so no one can meddle, but in fact you have to lock otherwise people can't use the form, and then you could protect the document through tools.
