Do you think I am starting to put my past to rest?

Someone suggested that I am living in the past, to them I thank as it inspired me to write the following. It came from the heart.

My forgiveness

My father, I forgive you, for the things that you have done

You treated me like a nothing instead of being a son

The world has taught me many things since I left home that day

And one of those is forgiveness in many different ways

I forgive you for the pain you offered to me, each and every day

I forgive you the hurt you caused the physical searing pain

But each day I walk the streets of my new home city

I think of how my life was then, it was such a pity

My father I forgive you, I know you did not pray

But should you be in heaven, thank God you’ve had your day

For God has taken pity on you, Just listen to what he has to say

Kneel before him, in the hope he hears you pray.

Pray for all the sins you have taken part and witnessed on earth beneath you,

For the abuse, the pain and suffering to all the children that you knew

Pray before God

Update:

take away your sins to be cleansed of all your sorrow

Maybe you will see out of cleaner eyes today or even tomorrow

If it be the devil you are with, I am sorry you went that way

No man should be suffering by the devils hurtful, unsympathetic sway

For he is mean, you can never be clean in the fire in which you burn

But fall down on your knees and pray to God your voice will soon be heard

My father I forgive you, I speak for every child whom has come before you

We are told, one must never hold a grudge against a man who never knew

My father I forgive you in every single way and for every hurtful day

When it comes for me to die, I will stand before my God and this is what I’ll say

My Lord forgive this man for he knew no better and in some ways, was lead astray

I forgive him Lord, I pray that you will too, I leave you to decide his fate.

But I will leave you home this day and await your decision by your gate.

But I listen to your story, about turning the other cheek

I come here not for

Update 2:

, but my father’s soul for you to keep.

My father, I have never been able to say this but words were hard to say

No matter what you did to me, I love you just the same,

Be at peace my father; be at peace.

Update 3:

Please, please, please do not discredit my work with little one line answers. If you can not put more than 2 words together, please don't answer

Update 4:

I am visiting the UK in a few weeks and will bury this in his grave, hoping God and my father will read it and come to some sort of agreement.

My dear brother, you are on the right track. To hold unforgiveness in your heart hurts only you and actually puts a wall up before God...our souls must be cleansed by the healing of the Holy Spirit and by forgiving the one who hurt you most, bless you heart, I'm so sorry!, then you are allowing yourself to heal and not hold the venemous poison that bitter unforgiveness sickens us with. Your father was just a man who fertilized your mothers egg which became you...Your Father in Heaven created you and you were terribly and wonderfully made and it is our eternal Father who truly loves us...one day we will be in His arms and not even remember the pain other humans caused us on Earth as He wipes away all our tears and replaces all our sorrow with His perfect joy. The poem is too personal for mere comment...suffice it for me to say I rejoice for and with you in this monumental achievement!!! Love and God bless dear Peter!

Sounds like you've turned a corner, congrats. Don't 'get stuck in a moment' you are your own person - some things that we have endured make us better for it.
