question about my passport?
I am travelling from Ireland to France on Thurs to Mon and my passport is out in 4 weeks time. Can I still travel with it. It expires in 4 weeks but is there an expiry deadline in which I can travel

YES YOU CAN TRAVEL ANY WHERE IN THE EU ,YOU CANNOT TRAVEL OUTSIDE THE EU UNLESS YOU HAVE 6 MONTHS LEFT ON YOUR PASSPORT .

As long as you're back in the Common Travel Area (UK + Ireland + Channel Islands + Isle of Man) by the time your passport expires, you're OK. You need a passport (or national ID card, though we don't have one in the UK and I don't think you do in the ROI either, do you?) to cross between the CTA and the Schengen Area.

You should probably ring the passport office, they have a 24 hour line I think, I rang them at 6.45pm last sunday night.
As far as I was aware, you have to have 6 months left on the pasport on the date of your return. Maybe its changed since, or it may be different for travelling in the Eu.
Best ring passport office and check before you go or you may be stopped in Ireland customs and not be able to go.
Ring them - beter safe than sorry.

According to my bloke, you can use your driving licence at a push, they sometimes dont ike to but push come to shove they will let you. He travels back and forth to Ireland alot with work and some of the guys have forgotten their passports before and they have let them use their driving licences.

Yep - the date before it expires you must have returned to your homeland.
