Do not pay the difference. write to them asking to send you a copy of the 18 month contract that you signed, if they cannot produce one - which they wont be able to - cancel your direct debit and say you will simply pay what you owe. don't back down. i did this when they creditted an upgrade fee to my account instead of cancelling it, they said i'd have to pay it, but never did. say you're cancelling your contract as they are not offering you the service you pay for. they will cancel the charge eventually.

This is a tricky one.... did you upgrade instore or over the phone???? If this was done instore the retail store will or should have a copy of your CIF form or if you take yours in you will be able to fax this through to Orange to show proof of your upgrade. They will change your contract dates back to a 12 month. usually orange will not recalculate they will just put you on the correct tariff and not worry about their loses.

on the other hand.... if you upgraded over the phone this is a verbal agreement and is very difficult to prove, however by speaking to a line manager you will probably get your way.

I don't recommend cancelling your direct debit though as this will affect your credit scoring. if i didn't get what i want i would finish the contract and just change network!!!
