How to get my birth certificate?

Question

The reason I ask is I am nearly forty years old and there never was a birth certificate issued in my name. I was born at home and the private Dr. passed from an MI before anything was filed. I have used affidavits and school verifications before but I need to get a 'birth certfiicate'. I have tried before but ran in endless circles with red-tape and referrals! Help me out if you can!

you can go to the hospital that you were born in. You would most likley have to go threw a bunch of papers and other things. Or you may be able to check any other government offices to get. But if you do that you may only get a copy of it.

Well the doctor should have filed a birth certificate even if you were born at home.  It should have been filed at the county seat and knowing the exact date should get you there.  If you are having problems, you might contact one of the elected local county supervisors / judges (elected leaders of the county) for help.   
You've probably already been asked for this but a statement / declaration from your parents and / or a baptismal certificate might be helpful.

Try your local newspaper. Ours used to be able to obtain Birth Certificates for a fee. You could also try the Citizen's Advice Bureau to see if they can help point you in the right direction. If you know where you were born you could also try the Parish records of the church in the area. Good luck anyway with your quest.

Bureau of vital statistics handles them in Pennsylvania. I am not sure about MI.
He had to file it somewhere within your state, when you were born.
If that fails, check with your local state Representative. They should have someone there to help you.

COntact the place you were born and have them assist or write to your congressman.  they will assist you
