Question for "African-Americans" on Obama...?

Obama's father was Kenyan, which means his family comes from a region of Africa NOT associated with the slave trade in the U.S. But his mother was white. His family are strangers to the American slave experience. Unless his family did some huge migration eastward a few centuries ago, he has closer ties to whites than he has to you. What do you think about this?

It's not an accomplishment for any black because I certainly would not want that scumbag representin' me!

The Dems could've nominated someone completely African American, like Condi!

I think that the color of Obamas skin has dictated how he has been treated in his life on countless issues. So, American slave experience aside...he grew up being treated the same way as a 100% Black man with ancestors from the west coast of Africa. Just because his roots are Kenyan doesn't mean that he got a pass on being discriminated against, followed around stores, denied jobs because of skin color, or stereotyped.

How would you know what our "ties" are? Are they all the same? The simple truth is that they are likely different, the "ties, and all over the place and in the end, do the people who ask these questions ever wonder why President Obama chooses to call himself African American?

Trust me, he's not the first mixed race person in the black community and certainly not the last.

Also, as I shout on here everyday - African Americans are multiracial! Just because your worldview is limited doesn't mean mine has to be limited.

let them have their moment!! geez. the man is half black whether he experienced pain or not and it is a big accomplishment for them. or at least someone to look up to. now, no black man woman or child can ever blame the white man for their inefficiencies. a man who shared their race...even only half has made it this far. now they know and understand that we are not holding them back. we havent been for a long time now....but finally we have something to say back. its not our faults. you can go to school and complete, you can get a job and grow, you can teach your chidren morals and you CAN succeed. let them live this moment and hopefully their attitudes will change.

and of course this does not apply to all black people. only the ones wo blame others for their situations.
