Question for Obama lovers...?

Can the administration get any more stupid than this?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090427/us_nm/us_newyo...

Update:

BTW, I realize for security reasons they couldn't tell too many people about the event. But gee, how much is a simple photo op worth?

"Gee, we might scare the hell out of thousands of people in lower Manhattan, but we really need this photo op so..."

Answer: dump the photo op and buy the latest photo/video computer program and learn to do what Hollywood filmmakers do all the time! Duh!

Word has it it even affected the stocks. Good job, Obama.

Update 2:

Ronny--no I am not calling the Armed Forces stupid. In my experience I've dealt with some people in the Armed Forces that were pretty stupid on an individual level, but you get that in every aspect of society. But since they used one of Obama's planes don't you think there had to be some communication with his administration?

That being said, is there any way you can describe this event as being anything BUT stupid?

Update 3:

Bob H--I happen to live next to one of our nation's busiest airports--LAX. It's a five minute drive from my house. As I type I am hearing a jet passenger plane take off. I see and hear this every day. I know as a witness what a normal takeoff, flight, and landing looks like. Now I suppose you could legally have a 747 do circles around the Bank Tower in downtown L.A., but it would look either pretty odd and stupid or like a terrorist strike. I can tell you that the first thing that would come to the minds of thousands working in downtown L.A., especially if they see a fighter following it, is not "Oh, they're doing a photo-op!"

And that's exactly what happened on the streets of New York today, as the news reports show.

Yes they can get even more stupid.

Their potential seems to be unlimited in that direction.

Yeah, that was pretty stupid. The woman in the article (Peggy Lewis) who suggested they fly over DC because New Yorkers are sensitive is stupid also though. A plane hit the Pentagon as well as the Twin Towers.

I'd say no, but they have the ability to surprise me. reading some of the answers here I have to respond. Just because you won an election does not mean you can do whatever you want, including moving the statue of liberty. We will revolt in two years. Bush was not the first president to ignore intelligence reports of 9/11 attacks so did Clinton. Obama is President and he should know about something so sensitive if he didn't know. Get off the golf course Mr President.

I wonder who authorized the operation; for what purpose the picture will be used; why were the public not warned about the event.

To cap off all of these questions; I would ask "Was it worth the scare it gave people left unaware of its innocence.?"

The President was not on board.

The action was pre arranged by the DoD, the FAA and the city.

I have to wonder if there was some other reason behind it (no, no big conspiracy...maybe some training crap...who knows).

Yes, it would have scared the pants off of me.

I work in downtown Dallas and even though planes fly right by our window every day we notice any slight change in the flight plan. In fact, one day a plane changed their flight plan enough that we actually posted a question about it on this forum...

JFK is the busiest port in the world, and there;s LAG and Newark. All three break every law there is just to keep traffic moving, and you think a plane flying around the statue is supposed to shock someone.

  • I was just getting ready to post a similar post but you beat me to it. Is this not more evidence of Obama's and his arrogant narcissistic personality ? Give me a break. Let's traumatize people in NY so I can bring glory to myself and puff up my ego with a glorious photo opt. What a moron. God bless.

What the HELL did they think, that they could fly planes in New York, lower than normal and nobody would freak the hell out?? Dear God...

I'm afraid so - to them 9/11 never happened. It was just some enemies with benefits who were aircraft landing challenged.

That is pretty stupid. They said that the Obama people did tell some businesses, but not everyone. I mean, that makes sense because you can't go around telling where the presidents planes will be specifically.

But man. Ok, you're a citizen of NYC. You've personally witnessed the WTC attacks in 2001. Then seven years later you look up towards the statue of liberty and see a big plane flying very very low.

    What would anyone think? Damn.

The Obama administration: "Complete arrogance, right in your face".

The are very lucky no one was hurt or trampled in the panic.
