My computer has blacked off -is it a virus?

The screen displays Compaq followed by Windows XP and then this error message pops up in a dialog box where the heading says lsaa.exe -System error and the content says "Object name not found" and the whole cycle repeats again. the only option i have is to use F1 or esc keys to boot the system. Will that be of any use? Someone pls help me!

Update:

The problem is that I am not having the option to go into safe mode and therefore i cannot install the spyware doctor software.

    You should try to scan your PC for some kind of spyware. Google pack provides Spyware Doctor, which is worth being downloaded:

    1st of all you go in safe mode then follow this....

    start

    all programs

    accessories

    system tool

    system restore.

    now choose a day when your computer was OK. then click next & follow the rools

    but u may be lost some data which u installed in after selected date

    i hope that ur pc is ok
