Why are iphones so much cheaper in the US?

Is it just me???

And could I buy one from the US and then bring it home to use on a UK network..?

    Thy're actually not cheaper. The cheap prices are with a two year contract that runs a minimum of $1,680 US plus taxes. Buying an iPhone without a contract will run you $600 to $800 US new and the phone would have to be unlocked. Moreover, keeping an iPhone unlocked is job in and of itself.
