Why do some Christians think it is moral to commit murder?

Dr Warren Hearn will perform abortions up to 34 weeks of pregnancy where he feels it is medically justified. However, his surgery is guarded by armed US marshals to guard against anti-abortionists who want to kill him. Dr George Tiller, another doctor who perfomed the same kind of procedure, was gunned down in his church. Ex-pastor Paul Hill was executed for killing Dr John Britton, whom he shot solely because John Britton performed abortions.

If you believe it is wrong to kill unborn babies, why do you think it is right to kill abortion doctors? Is it because you believe it is justified execution? And if so, why do you believe that is right without due process of law?

Because they are crazy religious fanatics who can't think straight. I don't understand why America is full of Christians who hate Obama because they think he's going to take their guns away. I don't understand why a country that calls itself christian can have the death sentence. I don't understand why christians like Sarah Palin think that America becoming a socialist country (not sure what she thinks that means though) is a terrible terrible thing - surely all christians would want to see less fortunate people being taken care of and would want people to have access to health care when they are sick. Most of the people I know who describe themselves as atheist are also politically liberal or to some degree socialist - they believe in equality, are generally anti-war - they are kind gentle people who would never want to kill someone just because they have a particular point of view. These people who think it's OK to kill someone becaused they believe they are in the right when in reality it's just another point of view. Maybe there are no good or bad events there are just events and we colour them dependent on our point of view and belief (and I can feel the hatred of the righteous growing before I even post this).

As a christian i follow the teachings of the old testiment. Thou shat not kill!!

Not a tree, shub, bush, veg, animal... ect.. Thire is only one reason to kill another and that is survival. Abortion has been practiced for milenia. It is only permited if the mothers life is in danger. This quack had commited murder and the lives that will be save due to the actions of 1 mans sacrafice are justified.

It took the scrafice of over 25 millions of lives to kill hitler. Now was that accepably justifiable? Me peronaly i don't think it was. Would the world be any worse if it was ruled by nazis and japs?

Any way the war never ended it just moved. And instead of large battles it is now sckirmishes.

Don't get hung up on believing everyone that calls themselves a Christian is a Christian. Take the

Christian Scientists or the Mormons for example. There are plenty more people that declare their

Christianity but don't follow the teachings of Christ who is supposed to be their example. By their

fruit shall ye know them. You see apples hanging from a tree you know it's an apple tree.If a person lives in a garage and says they are a car, don't believe them. True there are some Christians that may go off the deep end but there are countless millions that believe in the sanctity of life from the womb to the tomb.

Your question asserts "higher morality" by atheists over their incarcerated Christian counterparts. Unfortunately, an appeal to moral progression necessarily requires acceptance of an objective standard against which to gauge. You're asserting that morality (right conduct) is NOT subjective or relative, but rather objective. Arguing this also requires of necessity acceptance of a binding force other/greater than man (ie; A God). If you plan to hold criminal Christians to an objective moral standard you'll have to effectively argue for one (philosophical arguments are all that exist in this area ... the existence of moral nihilists proves this) and if you plan to venture down this dangerous path, be prepared to have the church argue it centuries before you.

No Christians think it is moral to commit "murder". What they do is to make various (often highly artificial) distinctions between acts of killing. These distinctions mean that only some killings are viewed as being murder whereas other killings (for example, in a "just war" or a judicial execution) are seen as being legitimate.

Perhaps they should read their Bibles more. They will find that it says "thou shalt not kill", not "thou shalt not murder". They might argue that doctors who perform abortions are legitimate targets because they are guilty of murder. But the Bible rules this out; "Vengeance is mine, says the Lord, I will repay".

God says Thou Shalt not kill. Exodus 20.

God will have His revenge on all those who will kill innocent children from their mother's wombs.

God will have His revenge on all those who kill others in a cold and bloody way.

Two evils do not make a right.

God looks upon the heart of man and sees the inside of a man's soul.

If a person has sinned against God,

but are forgiven in this life for their sins,

then God will welcome them into Heaven.

But, God has made conditions for life

and some people break these conditions

and do the most hideous sins against God

    and mankind.

These people must be judged and justice

    must be met

and that is why the Death Penalty

must be the final Punishment for them that sin against mankind,

    for taking another persons life.

God says that a life must be taken for a life.

But in a controlled and ordered way, not as human revenge.

Or this is just as bad

. God will not be pleased if man kills man

    just for revenge.

In the same way that some humanists kill people, some atheists kill people, some muslims kill people etc.

These people say they are christian but their beliefs are flawed and extreme, just as any other religion or belief system can be warped by extremism.

Ask any christian in the street, like me, and we will condone these actions. This 'christian' will not be going to heaven as I know it.

Strange how you can get so easily confused between the life of an innocent baby who has done nothing wrong, and a man who has committed murder on those innocent babies (before they even have the opportunity to take their first real breath!) Perhaps you should see someone about your mental condition, your inability to recognize this difference! Understand, I personally do NOT believe in the taking of another person's life, except for the execution of the extreme case murderer, and then only through the legal system, but for you to confuse these two issues tells me that you have some serious problems you need to work through! No, I do NOT condone the murder of an abortion doctor, but - one more time for emphasis - but for you to confuse these two items lets me know that YOU are rather cold-blooded, maybe even a murderer yourself, with little, if any, understanding of the difference between the taking of the life of the innocent, and the execution of a murderer! Since you seem to be all fired up in favor of murdering innocent, yet-to-be-born babies, perhaps you should first try one out on yourself. (I don't mean a baby, I mean YOU!) It's hypocritical to say you believe in abortion if you are still alive! Let one of those babies live to about 20, and THEN ask them how they would feel to have their life aborted, terminated, put to an end! Give the unborn babies a chance to speak for themselves! I don't know how old you are, but I'll put it to YOU - would YOU like YOUR life to be aborted, terminated, put to an end? If so, then do it! If not, then don't put on someone else what you would hate for yourself! That's an extreme double-standard that ends up taking the life of an innocent victim! It's the WORST case of hypocrisy I can ever imagine! You certainly do not stand up for the rights of the unborn baby the way you are standing up for the rights of the adult who murders these babies - yet again, hypocrisy!

They think they are doing God's will by killing these vile, murderous abortionists/agents of Satan.

This is what happens when people derive their morals from nonexistent sky beings.

I guess it is the same logic that George Dubya Bush applied to killing the tens of thousands of Iraqis and the over 5,000 American troops (to date) in order to secure our oil rights...err, I mean to stop production of weapons of mass destruction.....
