My 11 month old collie shakes and her fur seems to be falling out?
She seems okay in herself, she is still playful and lively, but sometimes she shakes really badly and in the past week or so she seems to be malting an awful lot. Obviously it's the middle of winter, so sure this isn't right, but sometimes her fur is seeming to come out in clumps. She doesn't seem ill, but am still concerned.

As for the shaking it could be a couple of things, she was either scared by someone, low blood sugar, or a siezure, I would bring her to the vet and check her for neurological malfunctions. Is she UTD with her vaccinactions?
Collies require no more personal care than any other long coated breed of dog. A common misconception is that the Collie needs daily brushing or frequent bathing. Nothing could be further from the truth. The amount of coat care is necessarily dependent upon the amount of coat a dog may have and the time of year. A Rough Collie in full coat should be brushed once a week or every two weeks. A dog that is noticeably out of coat or in summer coat is going to need less grooming than a dog in full winter coat.
Female collies will shed their coat once or twice a year, approximately 4 months after each season. Males will usually shed once a year, generally around their birthday or in the summer. When a Collie begins to shed their coat, it may become necessary to brush the coat on a daily basis, combined with a possible bath, to help the shedding process. Shedding can span a period of two to four weeks. Collies are well worth the extra effort it takes to groom them, but grooming is not for everyone. If an owner is not able to keep up with regular grooming of the coat, it is recommended having the coat professionally groomed. However, professional grooming is not a necessity the way it is with some breeds, like the Poodle. Obviously, the smooth coated variety will require less brushing and maintenance than the rough, but both varieties do shed. Collies are a very clean breed and are noted for not having a doggie odor, frequently found with some other breeds.

At this element, your ideal decision is to purchase a kennel or kennels for each time they're left unattended, and positioned money into some education instructions. PetSmart instructions are low-value and supply you 2 extra type cases for an identical value as opposition, and are assured. the workers there could additionally provide you some education on kennel education your canines, so as that they do no longer see it as punishment. be certain you get the splendid length on your canines. too plenty area can carry approximately extra messes, and too little area and reason cramping and muscle issues. Your canines could have the potential to stand with ease, turn around, and lay down. in case you're no longer keen to bypass the area and artwork such as your canines, then you definitely could be waiting to anticipate those issues to persist for the existence of the canines. although, no canines is purely too previous to coach.

Im not a vet by any means but you may have a Collie who simply has a nervous conditition. My cousin had a Collie when we were growing up and hers lost her hair because a) she was a high strung dog, and b) she had a flea allergy. They were able to get her put on meds that helped correct these conditions and her hair began to grow back. Another thing you will want to watch for is mange. My cockapoo had mange and his hair began falling out, and he had to go on mange treatments. Demodix mange comes from a mite that lives on the skin of every dog, but a dog's normal immune system keeps them in check. When ever a dog's immune system is compromised the mite takes advantage and takes over. That is how our Pepper got it as a baby...Any of these things are treatable with a visit to your veterinarian...

The first moult is always the worse. SHe will need grooming daily until she has finished. Try getting a tool called a furminator, (search on eBay) that will speed up the shedding of dead hair. It is normal.

I think you should ask a vet about it. She may shed that way, but I don't think the shaking is related to shedding.
