Why is my laptop full of memory? ?

My latop has 142MB out of 32GB of space left. I dont understand, as I deleted every game off it, deleted lots of pictures and work, I have hardly anything on it, yet it is so full??

The Windows folder has 19GB, and the Font one within it has 9GB of space. This is a stupid amount of space? How do I get rid of it without deleting important stuff?

And why do I only have 32.5GB when it sais that the laptop has a 80GB HDD?

Update:

Im defragging now... it said that is defrags every wednesday from 2005... It was brand new in 2008 so i dont know how it did that...

Update 2:

I also did a Disc Cleanup which gave me 3GB of space back...

But the Windows folder is stil 18.6GB

Update 3:

It isnt Fonts that is taking the space sorry, it is the one I can find:

'AppPatch' - 8.4GB

And the other 131 items taking up the rest :/

I take it your using Windows

Have you tried De-fragmenting your harddrive ( built in software)

also use Ccleaner to free up space ( free ) just search for it

still no better, then use disk clean up ( built in software)

    Hope this helps

There must be something in the Font file for it to take up that amount of space. Mine is only 64mb. Have a look in the file to see if anything else has sneaked in. My windows file is 9gb and I have a lot of programs. I suspect that you have may have a lot of left over rubbish from programs that you have had installed. You may also like to have a play with easycleaner to see if that can get rid of sime of your junk. You can try ccleaner too but I have found it to be a little too aggressive sometimes!

Your programs still take up space, run the Disk Cleanup utility from the Accessories, System Tools folder. This will remove temporary files, recycle bin and other junk.

i'm not a computer wizard or anything but maybe u should try to defrag your files. what this does is take out the corrupt files and compresses all files together and resulting in more memory space and faster running computer.

    Start>programs>accessories>system tools>disk fragment

The 9gb is probably the restore files. Run disk cleanup

This sounds extra like an complete puzzling force, no longer memory. you want to commence in secure mode. once you reboot your pc, press F8 because the device boots (formerly it receives to the Microsoft stuff throughout boot). once you get into secure mode, raise living house windows explorer and eliminate information that you now no longer favor or can arise with the money for to delete. for confident places that would have their complete contents deleted: c:windowstemp c:temp c:information and settings[your consumer call]community SettingsTemp C:information and Settings[your consumer call]community SettingsTempTemporary information superhighway information Empty your recycle folder. all of them in the adventure that they don't seem appropriate at the same time. that would favor to get you all started. seem for extra applications, information (like music and photos) than would nicely be archived onto a detachable puzzling force. sturdy success
