Is she still accountable?
My Ex wife moved over to England to work as a doctor, I have just found out that she has not paid her income and habitation tax going back since 2002 when she was still living in France. I have the income tax people at my door demanding money. I am a handicapped person with only a limited amount of money and can not afford to pay such a large some. Has any one any idea how I can get this woman to pay her dues and get the income tax off my hands, Thanks you all in advacne
George M, Thanks for your advice, but I never got to see all her bills she kept them hidden from me. I am already paying for her telephone and other bills she left behind.

I am assuming you filed a joint tax return when you were married. In that case you will most likely have to pay any back taxes that you incurred as a couple whilst married.
You can then turn around a sue your ex-wife for her share of the taxes, which is often difficult to do overseas.
If we are talking about substantial amounts of money here you should get yourself either an attorney or a tax advisor which has more detailed knowledge of French tax law and can help you find possible loop holes and/or assist you in recouping some of the money spent from your ex-wife.
