Sick of hearing Bombardier Dash 8-Q400?

People who live in the area of Chesterfield, Derbyshire or anyone who lives in England.

Aren't you sick of hearing the sound of a Bombardier Dash 8-Q400 flying over your head every five minutes.

I live on a flight path to Manchester and Doncaster and I was sat there the other night and I counted about 6 Dash's all operated by 'Flybe.'

I swear to god they are the most irritating sounds known to man, who else has this issue?

Not too long ago, people were complaining in Toronto about a small company called "Porter" flying in and out of the the Island Airport and claiming it to be too noisy. Apparently, during one of their protests, a number of Dash-8 Q400s had taken off and landed behind the protest without anyone noticing. That pretty much ended the debate...

The planes are generally considered very quiet; I guess you live in a bad spot. If it's really conflicting with your lifestyle you may need to move. Generally there are laws that forbid airplanes from taking off and landing at certain times over certain areas to avoid excess noise. But during the day, often these rules don't apply... but then again most people are out of the house during the day anyway.

I have been on a Porter Airlines Q400 out of Toronto City Centre Airport to Chicago. And it only has 62 passengers, to make it lighter so it can land at the short runway at the airport. The flight lasted around two hours and the plane was remarkably comfortable and smooth. I've also been on a Q300, the 50 passenger variant of the Q400. It too was smooth.

If you don't care for the sound of aircraft departing or landing, why do you live on (under) the flight path to/from an airport? That kind of property goes at a premium to folks who enjoy the excitement!

Yeah that seems to be correct

Nope and they are one of my favorite airplanes. There really isnt anything you can do about it.
