Do you like the Spitting Image song 'Never met a nice South African'?
The other evening whilst trawling through some of my mums Spitting Image DVD's I encountered a song called 'Never met a nice South African.' The lyrics are to be honest very funny indeed and in traditional Spitting Image fashion take the Michael out of the Apartheid rule in South Africa.

I am a South African and I am very nice... to other South Africans. Unfortunately, when encountering foreigners who believe or subscribe to the above, the response becomes a reation. I think another possibility that we come across as not "nice" is because we live in a society that is quite severe. There isn't much space for small talk - show me who you are and I'll show you who I am - lets not waste time being "polite" and drinking tea. I think that's the way South Africans see things.
