Do you / Can you get "Direct Payments" for Counselling?
I am trying to get Social Services to fund counselling for my wheelchair-bound wife who suffers from severe depression. It seems that some councils will do this - but I am trying to find out which councils have actually paid out for this.

It is normally funded by NHS but we want her to continue seeing the same counsellor that the GPs referred her to and then pulled the funding without notice.

I thought this was usually provided as an NHS service - GP referral, rather than social services.
The NICE recommended treatment is Beating the Blues which can be accessed via your computer. It's available via your GP in most areas.
