  • Extract UK postcode from cell (excel/access)?

I have a database that is currently in excel 2013 but I will need this 'facility' in Access too.

A cell will contain a string that 'may' be just a postcode or it may be a region, followed by a postcode.

    Some Examples:

    S6 5HF

    Liverpool, L6 4RT

    London, SW1P 6YU

    FY3 6TF, England

    BS16 5TY

I need to be able to extract the postcode out of that (preferably without the space). The postcode can be in any of the following formats

LN NLL, LNN NLL, LLN NLL, LLNN NLL, LLNL NLL

where L is a capital letter and N is an integer. If it helps, the last block of 3 characters is always Number, Letter, Letter and that format is never used in the first half.

  • Car Insurance Renewal - cooling off period?

My insurers have renewed my car insurance policy because I mistakenly thought the previous policy ended 5 days after it did. Their policy was considerably higher than I could get elsewhere. I have had 5 days cover - can I cancel without penalty?

  • Can a solicitor say this?

I am involved in a court claim. I have just received an email from the other partys solicitor in which she expresses a personal opinion about me. I find this offensive - it is not an opinion about the case or about a point of law - I am described as reprehensible.

Is she allowed to say that? If not, who do I complain to?

  • 1950s British Documentaries?

I need to write an essay about Class, Gender & Citizenship in 1950s Britain as depicted by documentaries. Unfortunately, the British Government had taken big steps forward in the previous decade by creating the NHS, the Welfare State & winning a war so they were no longer 'newsworthy' - most of the documentaries I can find are about how lovely Power Stations are!

I would appreciate suggestions of appropriate documentaries (especially if there is plenty of info/analysis online for them). If anyone has specific knowledge, I can be contacted via my profile.

  • Are they liable for p&p?

I purchased a 'deal' through one of the bigger 'deals' sites - lets call them PooCon.

Buyers purchased the voucher from PooCon, but redeemed it with and paid a p&p charge to the supplier.

The deal has fallen through, and PooCon have refunded the cost of the voucher. Are they liable to refund the p&p charge paid as it was a purchase introduced through them? Is the contract with PooCon or the supplier?

  • Design my website for a share of the company?

Would anyone reading this be interested in (or know of a designer who may be interested in) building a website for my new business in exchange for up to 10% of the company for a period of 5 years.

Designer would need to be an accomplished web designer with knowledge of sql databases.

If you're not interested, perhaps you would have ideas how I might find a company / individual to help.

  • What is my car accident history?

Every year, you have to fill out details of your accidents in the last 5 years, but some of the details of the earlier ones are a bit hazy - dates, how much was paid out, did the insurer make a recovery "was that the one with the jelly eating lion" etc etc.

Is there a database available to the public so that I can make sure my responses are accurate? I know the MID database is online to check you're insured.

  • How do I find out what I did?

Many years ago, I was convicted for a minor crime - now covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

Obviously, I know what I did, but I don't think I was ever actually told what the crime was - ie how it is recorded. If I was told, I've forgotten. How can I find out what is shown on my record?
