How do I find out what I did?

Many years ago, I was convicted for a minor crime - now covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

Obviously, I know what I did, but I don't think I was ever actually told what the crime was - ie how it is recorded. If I was told, I've forgotten. How can I find out what is shown on my record?

Update:

I see the message about about CRB checks - is that the only way? How do I get a CRB check, don't you have to be an employer or something?
