Do you think it is condesending or patronising to...?

put people's names at the start of sentences when talking, to them or texting.emailing etc

for example if I was telling you something and said "connor would you empty the dish washer" or "amy yes I did get your text" etc I think its very patronising, what do you think??

I hate people putting my name in texts

I don't think it's patronising, it can be annoying though. Particularly in conversation. I know a whole family of people that always call you by your name in every sentence. I feel like saying, "I'm still here!"

Maybe they tend to send their texts to the wrong people? So if you see "connor" you know it's not for you if that's not your name.

No, I don't, personally. Some people speak in this way and I like to hear my name when spoken to. My husband very rarely uses my name but calls me 'darling' and I sometimes say it would be nice for him to use my name. I think I probably feel this way because my parents would often start a sentence with 'Hels....' so I feel love in that. Perhaps it subconsciously reminds you of a teacher or other adult who talked down to you when you were young. Or perhaps no-one in your family did that and it seems strange to you?

I just think so. Putting people's names at the start of sentences is a way to try to subdue this people...

i find it respectful.... unless its a patronising person doing it to be patronising. guess it would depend on the person and tone or relationship with said person.

No, it's good practise. Especially if you get a text saying "Hey you mug, are you dumb!" luckily if it did have someone Else's name you would know it was just a mistake..
