Unlocked Iphone use in the US?

Right so i've got an unlocked iphone 4 which i'm using in Ireland. I use it 'pay as you go', by topping up by €20 every thirty days I get unlimited text messages, unlimited weekend calls and 100mb downloads, further I use an option of buying 500mb downloads for €5 (which comes out of the original €20 top up).
This pretty much suits me down to the ground.

I'll be moving over to the states in a couple of months, either DC or New York, and i'll looking for a non contract sim only deal similar to the one described above preferably with a provider with a 3G network so I can use my iphone in the US.

I've browsed around a little and the only set up I can find similar to my current one is with T-Mobile

But thats absurdly expensive. 

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

T-Mobile doesn't support the 3G speed on the iPhone... you'll be stuck with the 2G (EDGE) with Tmobile since they use the 1700 & 2100 frequency.  iPhone uses the 1900 to get the 3G.
