DVD + blu-ray - what does this mean?
Hi,
I do not have a blu-ray player and have never bought a blu-ray disc. The issue is a film I want to buy is being released on DVD+blu-ray with dvd packaging and Blu-ray + DVD with blu-ray packaging, almost a month before the plain dvd is being released!
Does DVD +blu-ray (with DVD packaging) mean that there is actually a normal dvd in the box that can be played on regular dvd players??

It means you get both a Blu-ray and DVD version of the movie ... but pay a premium price. Studios are starting to offer this combination (sometimes with digital copy too) on some movies (presumably intended for consumers who want to be able to play the movie in, for example, their Blu-ray equipped HT and DVD equipped den or cottage or car) ... and in some cases to delay the release of the DVD to try to get consumers to pay more. Unless you REALLY want the movie ASAP I'd suggest waiting for the DVD only version (unless you a) plan to buy a Blu-ray player some time soon (say 6 months), or b) have a friend with a Blu-ray player you can share the cost (and disks) with).

yes i purchased avatar on blu ray and it also comes with a dvd version that you can play on any dvd player saying that blu ray players are getting very cheap now and the blu ray dvds are a lot cheaper especially on ebay.
please note if you do upgrade to a blu ray player then you will need a HD tv preferably Full HD
