Council Tax what to expect?

I haven't had a fixed residence in years. Flipped from friend to friend, relative to relative. Ive not been on the electoral register etc. I'm just renting my first property again in 7 years. Can I put of "Of no fixed abode", will the council accept that? Will they fleece me for every year? I just want to get back into the system, pay my bills etc

When I moved into my first place, I had lived with parents and friends. Many of my friends were either at uni or simply living at home. When I phoned to set up my council tax I just told them I has been living with various relatives but now I was in my own place. They only need to know previous address because of unpaid council tax, outstanding bills etc.

All you say is what you have said here. You moved around but now your in your own place and this is the first time you have paid council tax. They won't and can't *fleece* you. There is nothing illegal about not paying council tax before, after all, we all have to start somewhere!

They will simply ask for the date of move in for your new place, and send you a bill. You then need to set up how you pay (direct debit, payment card, online etc)
