Connecting a 3D source via a receiver amp?

I have a blu ray player which i connect first to a 2 year old ONKYA entry level HD receiver which then outs to a standard 720p LCD TV. I'm looking at upgrading to a 3DTV and 3D blu ray player but wondering whether connecting a 1.4HDMI (required for full 1080P 3D) via a non 3D source (the amp) would affect the image. Has anybody tried this? Would i need to connect to the TV direct? Any advise would be appreciated

You need HDMI 1.4 all through the chain if you want 3D. Connect the BluRay directly to the TV until you upgrade your receiver.
