What can I use as a printer ink absorption pad?

I have an old inkjet printer. It's perfectly fine for printing but a recent overhaul revealed the printer ink absorption pad is completely full.

Spares for this printer are no longer available but I'd like to refurbish the absorption pad using some new material.

The original pad is paper based and so, rinsing it is pointless as it is likely to fall apart.

I have seen foam used in more modern printers to do the same job.

My search, then, is for a foam absorption material about 1cm thick. I can cut it using the original as a template.

Usual searches on the internet reveal little except for specific printers and specific faults.

Or absorption material that is either industrial or not suitable because of its composition or size.

Many thanks.

Newer printer use an industrial felt. Go with industrial felt. You should be able to pick it up at a fabric, or craft store.
