Can the measurements kg/ha/year be expressed as kg.ha.year-1 ?

I am reviewing an article about beef production in which the author used that exponentiation or scientific notation to express "kilos per hectare per year" in the text, not in an arithmetical calculation. Would that be clear and appropriate? Examples of scientific notation I have found seem to only refer to numbers or equations. So I would appreciate it if you could cite references. xx

Kg/HA and the per year is assumed.

Actually most world agencies such as the USDA and FAO use Mt/HA as the uniform unit.

    Corn Yield (MT/HA) World 5.11

The measurement you are referring to would more appropriately be expressed inline as

Kg *(HA-1)*(Yr-1). Longshot's solution to the notation is probably most appropriate.
