Pretty much as TheOtherOneDave said except it's a VOSA test centre, not DVLA. You'll need to complete a VIC1 form to book it in (type VIC1 into Google and you'll bring up an online application form and you check to ensure that it does actually require the test or ring VOSA on 0300 123 9000)

CAT C can be driven right away with tax mot and insurance... HOWEVER, you must VIC check the vehicle at a DVLA test centre before they will issue you with a V5, which you will need to re-tax the vehicle. The VIC test does not test for quality of repair or anything, just that its not stolen, or a cut and shut.
