Can you move your itunes music folder to an external hard drive?

I'm trying to clear some space on my computer's internal hard drive, and I know my itunes music folder takes up a lot of space. I have successfully moved my whole Windows Media Player library to a folder in my external hard drive and it works successfully (as long as the external hdd is connected). Is there any way to do this with itunes without losing your library (I tried moving the folder once before and lost the lot, which was devastating...). Thanks

    Hi,

yes that's possible. There's a tool called TuneSwift that allows you to move the iTunes folder to an external drive. Found the program here: http://en.kioskea.net/faq/10073-transfer-itunes-to...
