What should I expect when I take my turtle to the vet tomorrow?

Hey!

My litlle guy has a swollen eye and he's been rubbing it a bit, so it's off to the vets' tomorrow. Any ideas what I should expect? And any ideas on how to get him there? What should I put him in?

I've raised the water temperature for him - do you have any other ideas on how to keep him comfortable until tomorrow?

Thanks so much for your suggestions!

It is most likely from a vitamin A deficiency. If it is the vet will examine him and check his weight and look at both eyes. Then he will give your turtle a shot of Vit. A under one of his front legs. Your turtle will jump from the pain but it is a very small needle and only lasts a second. Pay close attention on how the vet does it because you will have to continue the shots at home. With medical care it will heal fast and then make sure that he gets a good supply of vit. A regularly.

You are a responsible owner for taking him in. Without care the other eye will swell too and he will eventually die. ZooMed does make an eye drop that is great for turtles and if you can't find it at your local pet store you can order it online.

It is possible that the turtle has scratched his eye somehow or gotten something in it but the vet will be able to see if it is irritated. Raising his temp is the best you can do and maybe offer him a treat to keep him from rubbing it. Like a baby carrot that he can nibble on for a while. My favorite website is austinsturtlepage.com. There are many turtle owners on there who can help with everything. It is my helpline even after having turtles for most of my life. Best wishes!

Kat practically summed up each little thing you may anticipate to happen mutually as on the vet. one component of look out for although is any hypersensitive reactions you pup could could desire to the vaccines. My canine's face began to swell up approximately 40 5 min. after she have been given her photos. I had to take her to a 24 hr puppy well being midsection because of the fact the vets place of work closed and that they gave her a benadryl injection to hold the swelling down. Ever for the reason that then, I slip her an person dose benadryl approximately an hour before her apointment, then yet another approximately 12 hrs later to establish she would not have a reaction.
