  • What should I expect when I take my turtle to the vet tomorrow?

    Hey!

My litlle guy has a swollen eye and he's been rubbing it a bit, so it's off to the vets' tomorrow. Any ideas what I should expect? And any ideas on how to get him there? What should I put him in?

I've raised the water temperature for him - do you have any other ideas on how to keep him comfortable until tomorrow?

Thanks so much for your suggestions!

  • What to expect after cat's surgery?

    Hey guys!

My cute but dumb cat found and ate some string that got twisted up inside him. Luckily I got him to the vet really quickly and they operated to remove the string. Cracker (the cat) HATES the vet and is attacking anyone who goes near him - including me!

The op was yesterday and I visited him today and he's really pi**ed with me!

My question is, how will he be when he gets home? Is there anything I can do to make him feel safe and comfortable and trust me again?

    Thanks for your help!

    Cracker's worried mum.

  • Am I right to keep kitty indoors?

    Hey guys!

So, I rescued my cat from off the streets about 5 years ago. He was so small and alone and I knew he could never survive the winter so I took him home! (I did check then and later and there were no "Missing" posters!)

I kept him as an indoor cat as the area is very busy, there are many stray cats and the people just aren't that considerate to cats here (Korea).

He seemed quite happy, but yesterday he zoomed outside and complained massively when I brought him back in. Am I right to keep him indoors? Now I'm worried that he isn't happy and that he wants to be outside again...

What are your opinions/experiences on the indoor/outdoor debate?

    Thanks for your time!

  • Question about turtle tank lighting?

    Hi!

So, I have a basking lamp for my turtles that has UVB. But then I was worried about them not getting UVA so I bought a multi-spectrum bulb instead.

But it doesn't emit any heat!

So, should I use the UVA/UVB bulb for a couple of hours a day and switch to the basking bulb for heat?

    What should I do?!

    Thanks for ideas!

  • Should I allow algae to grow on rocks in turtle's tank?

I have a new turtle tank - it's been almost 4 weeks now. I clean the filter twice a week, and do a partial water change every day. Last weekend I noticed algae growing on the rocks - there are 2 in the tank. (One is to support the other which is where the turtles bask).

Anyway, is it ok to let the algae grow or should I clean it as soon as it starts to show?

    Thanks muchly for your help!

  • What should I feed fussy turtles?

I recently got 2 aquatic turtles. They seem perfectly happy and content. The thing is, in the store where I got them from they were only feed dried shrimp. I thought they needed more than this, so I also got turtle feed and blood worms.

They LOVE the blood worms, but both hate the pellets. Is it ok to feed them just shrimp and blood worms?

Also, I'm hearing conflicting advice about feeding fruit/veg. Do you give your turtles fruit or veggies?

    Thanks for your help!!

  • Why does my left hand turn blue?

It started that sometimes my left thumb would look blue-ish, but recently it has become my whole hand. It has nothing to do with being cold, and I don't experience any pain or tingling....

  • Teachers - how do you deal with students that you just don't like?

There are some students that I just don't like! I try to give them equal chances and not be too mean to them! But how do you cope with those students that wind you up just by being in the classroom? The ones that make you think "Oh god, he's here" when you walk in the room?!
