París is not so big, you don't need to be near the train station which is located in a bad neighbourhood and not close to museums.

The train that goes to London leaves from train station "Gare du Nord", you can easily get there by tube or by bus.

I recommend the Hotel d'Albion, rue de Penthievre, on the 8th district. It's a nice 2 stars hotel, well situated, a couple of friends always stay there when coming to Paris.

Another good hotel is Pavillon Saint Louis Bastille but I don't like the Bastille area.

    I'd stay at a hotel near the touristic attractions, which is postal codes 75006; 75007; 75004; 75001; 75008; 75005; 75017 and 75016.

I wouldn't stay near train stations Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est or near Republique square, not nice areas.

Don't trust the information that the hotels give on their website in relation to their location, they always pretend to be near the Eiffel tower or near the Arc of Triumph or even close to a tube station. Check on the web their address and real distance.

Try not to buy food from street vendors, they don't respect hygienic rules and you can easily get a gastro enteritis, in Paris is quite usual, better to buy something at the supermarket.
