Please remember and respect one of footballs saddest days, 6th February 1958, the Munich air disaster?

54 years ago today 23 people perished including 8 United players, journalists and supporters.

Legendary England and United player Sir Bobby Charlton was among the fortunate survivors.

I agree ...................and let`s not forget the hero, goalkeeper HARRY GREGG, who saved Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir Matt Busby ,plus other players ,civilians including that pregnant woman whose baby survived to tell the tale in that documentary ...

R.I.P to all those who died on that tragic night.

Some answers to your question are a disgrace to Manchester United, to football and to humanity .

R.I.P to all those who died , and respect to the families and survivors.

I am disgusted but sadly not surprised that some "users" are being totally disgraceful with their answers.

Please remember everyone who these users are, and block them permanently.

edit@ Rexie: But this is not a question about war, the dead or the fallen, or the waste of life in war. Many many users on here pay their respects on Rememberance Sunday and at other times.

There is a time and a place for everything, and this question is remembering this tragedy.

Unbelievable! you posted a nice comment and it was followed by nastiness. There are a few idiots who bring up Munich and Hillsborough during their pathetic chants. Neither are remotely funny. I find no need to attack someone who most definitely is not being disrespectful. And as for which was more important - grow up it is not a competition - people died.

Saint Iker and Rexie are idiots.

There are many different days to remember fallen soldiers of the past, Veterans Day, Remembrance Day, Memorial Day, etc.

Today is Feb 6th and it's day to mourn for those who died in the Munich Air Disaster.

Can anyone give me a quick, simple, and easy to understand summary of this incident? I don't know much about it and it sounds terrible, sympathy to those who passed, but what exactly happened?

    What's with the thumbs down?

    What is the reason?

Is it a crime to not know what happened?
