Agree with Cezz M I have run Win 7 on lesser CPU's and even 1GB ram... but 2GB of ram is definitely better. If that P4 has hyper-threading... it should do ok with Win 7 and 2GB ram.

Should work well on a Windows 7 Home Basic. P4 2.8GHz is good but if you want to be better buy 1 GB more of ram ddr2 (isn't that expensive 17$ in my country). 2GB should do it easy.

Umm, You mentioned you like a pics card yet your asking approximately RAM. WHAT?!?!?!? Any way, in case you're speaking approximately ram, then decide for the 4gb DDR3. this is has extra GB than the 1gb DDR5 so your workstation will run alot quicker ordinary. maximum classes want over 2gb of ram to be waiting to run. It additionally relies upon on what typ of ram housing your workstation has by using fact not all RAM enjoying cards slot in all workstation's and you need to finally end up dropping over 50 money on a ram card which you cant even use. sturdy success!

Stick with XP. Windows 7 will probably slow you down on that machine

win 7 home basic will work fine

but if u think that it is slowing down the performance of ur pc

then install tuneup utilities and windows doctor

these 1 software are very good in optimizing the speed of the pc

and if u use antivirus ......also install a lite antivirus like eset ...bcoz it is very lite program and does not affect the speed of the system

Why waste your money on an expensive OS for THAT?

Might as well just upgrade while you're at it, or just stick to XP, as nothing more is really needed, and XP is reliable.

W7 would just slow it down with those specs.

You will have problems running Windows 7 on that dinosaur, really.

Get a new PC. Hopefully a better one too. From this century, not the last...
