Help with Jarva software please!?

I have the following installed on my laptop;

Oracle Jarva 1.7x/7x (64 bit0

Sun Jarva JRE 1.6 /6 bit (64bit)

Sun Jarva JRE 1.6 x/6x

I am not sure what the difference is between Oracle Jarva and Sun Jarva and also there appears to be duplication.

I am also sure that these are in need of updating!

Advice please thanks.

    First of all it's "Java" not "Jarva". Sun Microsystems was merged merged with Oracle USA to become Oracle America, Inc.

    Download the update from here ( http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp ) and install it, everything should be fine.

    Yes, there is some duplication. You appear to have both 32bit and 64bit versions installed. You may need both if you are using both the 32bit and 64bit versions of Internet Explorer or if you have any other 32bit Java applications installed.

    Java 7 (otherwise known as 1.7 for historical reasons) is new and quite a major update for Java. There are a few Java applications which expect to find a version of Java 6. You may find that you need both for a while.

    On the whole it won't matter if you have multiple versions of Java installed as long as you keep both 1.6 and 1.7 versions up to date. They should both tell you if they find updates on the net, so you shouldn't need to do that manually.
