I am trying to create a system restore point but I am getting a error report 0x8100203.

I have done some research but the only suggestion is to do a restore point when in safe mode. Unfortunately under properties when in safe mode I can not see System Protection.

I am the only user of this laptop so I do not sign in.

Any help would be appreciated

Sometime ago I could not eject a dvd from my laptop. I pressed the button and an icon showed on the screen nut the eject mechanism did not work.

I searched in help and I resolved the problem by following the advice to go into media player and in libraries find the disk and choose eject. It worked, therefore the eject mechanism was not broken.

A couple of days later I restored my laptop to a previous point to resolve a unrelated problem.

The eject button now works!

I only use the button about once a month when using a disc which comes with a computer magazine. So it is not worn out.

What I would like to know what went wrong with the button and is there anything I can to to prevent another problem.

I am guessing it maybe a software hiccup.

If anyone has knowledge of dvd drives I would welcome your thoughts.

I have a Dell Studio 15" laptop. Yesterday I ran a Dell Support Centre check, when it was completed I looked at the detailed results and was surprised to find that the hard drive was manufactured by Samsung.

A search on Wikipedia does not show any connections between Dell and Samsung.

Should I have been surprised?

I seem to have some attachments in Yahoo Mail how can I delete them.

One is a pdf for Smile Bank (Terms and Conditions) but I do not have a Smile Bank account.

There seem to be no way of deleting this attachment.

Any Ideas?

I have been listening to KFOG live on their web site. However it appears 5 to 6 minutes behind time.

I know the time difference is 8 hours but the minutes past the hour should be the same.

If I am listening live why the delay surely can not be because it is in America?

Any ideas?

I have the following installed on my laptop;

Oracle Jarva 1.7x/7x (64 bit0

Sun Jarva JRE 1.6 /6 bit (64bit)

Sun Jarva JRE 1.6 x/6x

I am not sure what the difference is between Oracle Jarva and Sun Jarva and also there appears to be duplication.

I am also sure that these are in need of updating!

I have a program on my Dell Laptop, running Widows 7, called NetWaiting published by BVRP Software Inc.

I have no idea what this program does. Is there a problem if I deleted it.

I am not on a network by the way.

I am unable to download anything as I am being blocked by "your security settings do not allow this download". I have tried to download with Windows Firewall disabled and with no anti-virus running, but still I could not download. ( Both firewall and Microsoft Security Essentials are back on!).

There must be a way to change this but I do not know. Help please!

I am using Windows 7 and I have ThreatFire also installed.

I have a Dell Studio 15 running Windows 7 and I use "SlimDrivers" to update my drivers.

Unfortunately there are 34 other downloads on the Dell driver site which have not been picked up by this programme. I have tried to download them but I am being blocked by "windows has detected that this is a dangerous download and it has been blocked."

I am considering uninstalling Microsoft Security Essentials in order to get the outstanding drivers onto my machine. Once installed I would reinstall MSE.

Only one of the drivers is urgent, the others are recommended.

Does anyone see any problem in what I am proposing to do?

I have upgraded to the new Yahoo Mail and I know that some do not like it but I do!

I have one problem, every so often I get prompted to upgrade my browser. I have I am using IE9. Do any of you know how I can stop this annoying message, or how to convince Yahoo Mail that I have updated.

I just can not get Chrome to install. I manage to download the set up but can not find the file on my computer. I have looked at all download folders.

It says it takes seconds to install which it did.

Help please!

Since Sunday IE9 is not connecting.

What is odd is that Sky News sidebar gadget and G Mail gadget notification both work, and ThreatFire updated automatically so I am sort of connected to the web.

I installed Firefox and I am back on the Web.

I use a 3 Dongle but this is looking good.

Any ideas why IE9 is not working?

The Times on line web site is having problems with IE9 and they suggest that I log in using a different browser. I do not really want to do this as I would loose all my favorites.

I doubt if I can have more than one browser but If anyone knows otherwise please can I have some advice.

I am aware that a programme can not delete itself and that a toolbar shortcut can not be deleted on its own. But it happened to me!

Yesterday I noticed that the toolbar shortcut for Dell Support Center was missing, and on checking I found that the programme was no longer showing in "all programmes".

Today I downloaded the programme again and set up a shortcut.

Please do not tell me that I must have deleted the programme because I have not. If I wish to uninstall anything I use Revo Uninstaller which needs firm actions not something that is easy to make a mistake. To delete a shortcut I need to confirm the action and then clear out the Recycle Bin

None of this I have done.

I would be interested in any sensible ideas how what should not be possible happened.

Other Dell Owners do you still have Dell Support Center or it is only me who had the programme and shortcut deleted.

For the record I have the sole use of this Studio laptop running Windows 7.

Recently I lost sound from my Dell Laptop, I resolved the problem by using "Slim Drivers" a tool that finds missing drivers. Sound is now back!

I have not deleted any sound drivers, so my question is what happened to cause the loss of sound.

I can not think that drivers just pack up.

For the record I had not muted sound.

Anyone have any idea what caused the sound to stop?

I have checked the speakers on the control panel and they report all is well. My volume has not been muted. Tried to play a CD but no joy. I have a Windows 7 Dell which Is only three months old. I have used the help online from Microsoft but that did not help. So no idea what to do now, any ideas please?

I have a couple of e-mails with PDF attachments I therefore need something to enable me to open them. I use Vista and I have full Word.

I have heard of Adobe but is this the best? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Service Pack 2 has a tool to remove Service Pack 1 but how do I find this?

If I move to IE8 will I loose all my current favorites?
