What was wrong with the Dvd Eject Button?

Sometime ago I could not eject a dvd from my laptop. I pressed the button and an icon showed on the screen nut the eject mechanism did not work.

I searched in help and I resolved the problem by following the advice to go into media player and in libraries find the disk and choose eject. It worked, therefore the eject mechanism was not broken.

A couple of days later I restored my laptop to a previous point to resolve a unrelated problem.

The eject button now works!

I only use the button about once a month when using a disc which comes with a computer magazine. So it is not worn out.

What I would like to know what went wrong with the button and is there anything I can to to prevent another problem.

I am guessing it maybe a software hiccup.

If anyone has knowledge of dvd drives I would welcome your thoughts.

Thanks.

Your question is like throwing a needle into a hay stack and hoping to find it. Yes it definitely was a software problem. But which software? Thats the tricky part...
