My adult Dobermann dog has a low tolerance for warm weather and exercised at 05:30 and again in the evening when the temperature cools, but there are times when taking him out during the day is unavoidable or the temperature unexpectedly spikes, in which case he has a Kool Koat. The coat is easy to use, just fill a bath will cool not cold water, soak the coat and put on and maintains a normal body temperature for approximately one hour.

Kool Koats are purchased from the US, but worth the wait as it is a quality product that lasts for years and dispatch to delivery was within a very reasonable period of time.

Jacob’s coat hadn’t arrived when the picture below was taken so “borrowed” Tori’s.

My dogs run Agility in the Southwest, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas & Colorado summer heat. Sometimes it is 100 degrees or hotter at outside Agility trials. I definitely use cool coats on my dogs before & after runs to help keep them cool. I have purchased 2 different types of cool coats for my dogs. And I have also made cool coats.

I have purchased & made these type cool coats with PVA chamois material.

I wet the cool coats & keep them in a ziplock bag in my ice chest. I can use them on the dogs with the dogs wet or dry. I re-wet them as needed either with water from a hose or jug or ice water from my ice chest. They work really well. If I feel under them or when I take them off of the dogs they are quite cool. And being cool really helps the dogs run their best/fastest in the extreme heat.

Last year I bought these evaporative cooling coats. They work quite nicely, esp on dry dogs. I know a lot of tracking people that use these vests or very similar on their dogs.

Honestly, I like the PVA chamois cooling coats I made myself best. :-) You can buy the PVA chamois cloths at auto supply stores or even WalMart in the auto supplies. Very easy project to sew.

Are you for real? Dogs do not need a "cooling coat" or any of the other ridiculous items gullible, clueless dog owners purchase! The only thing items like "cooling coats" accomplish is to line the pockets of the people who manufacture and sell them!

My Dobermann had a cooling collar and he loved it, I think the cooling collar helped him as it cooled the neck area and that seemed to calm him down and did not restrict his movement.
