I am in such a dilemma. I am going through the menopause and I am trying not to go down the HRT Route.?

My periods stopped a year ago, at that time I was having hot sweats, then they would stop for about a month or so, and stupid me thought aah that wasn't too bad. How wrong I was! I am now having on average about 15 hot sweats during the day, and at night time it's even worse. and I rarely get a good night's sleep. I am drenched with sweat all through the night, I just feel like I am one sweaty mess ALL the time. I work in an office and it's really embarassing when I'm sitting there with a bright red face, drenched with sweat (not just my face, buy all over my body - I'm inwardly screaming as I'm so bloody boiling hot).

I've just started taking Menopace Plus, it's early days (only just over a week), but the sweats are still attacking ALL the time.

I'm trying not to go down the HRT route as I'd like to try natural remedies.

Has anyone tried Serenity Creme from Wellsprings? There are some pretty good customer feedback comments on their website, but I would rather hear it from a 'real' person. By the way, you can't use this creme if you are taking herbal menopausal substitutes.

I was also going to try Red Clover? You can apparently take this with Menopace tablets.

Any advice on Herbal versus HRT would be really welcome, I am at my wit's end trying to cope.

I know I'm not alone!

Serious answers only please.

If you're serious about going all natural, you need to be pretty serious. There are a number of herbs, like blue cohosh, raspberry leaf, crampbark etc. You'd be better off seeing a proper naturopath. It's a bit more involved than you're probably thinking, so take any bloodwork results in with you, and they'll also run some tests and come up with what they'll think is right for you.

Also, as far as diet goes, you might not like it (or you might, I don't know you), strict vegetarian (ie vegan) helps a lot. Here's a link to a video that explains how http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNCGkprGW_o but if you see a naturopath he or she will explain different foods that could help you (like barley, tumeric etc) and which ones could be making it worse.

when it comes to HRT vs herbal, I've never gone through menopause myself, but some of my family loved it, others hated it and had problems with it and so went natural and some did absolutely nothing at all. Every one of them liked whatever choice they went with in the end, even if it did take some trial and error.
