What does a yellow star on my question mean. Who gives these stars and for what?

If another user likes your question or finds it interesting then they star your question. If they have fans and contacts then this also alerts them to answer the question as well. There are no extra points with the stars, they are purely a goodwill gesture on the part of the answerer.
