Can you set Windows 8 to the OLD windows desktop?

I was looking at getting a new machine and I really hated 7 on a tablet at the office and now it is Windows 8 and looking at it in the shops I hate it more. OK I agree that it is new and I'll have to get used to it BUT is there anyway to fall back to the standard windows desktop rather than use the 8 tiles?

    When you get to the win 8 start screen - the lower left tile -Desktop

    will get you to the win 7 interface. You can also download a free program that will put your win 7 start button in the left end of the taskbar

    The tiles are just on the start screen. There is a desktop where all you're regular program run that's just like Windows 7.

    i dont have win8 so im not exactly sure how you set it but yes you can set it to open on the desktop instead of the metro ui
