  • Please bring back the old format for answers?

what is with yahoo and the need to update the user interfaces. There was NOTHING wrong with the old ones as they were simple and easy to find what I wanted. What you are doing is actually driving away customers

  • when baking bread in a bread machine should I activate the yeast first?

Hi, I've been experimenting with the machine we got for Christmas and I'm wondering should I activate the yeast first before putting it into the machine or just toss the dry yeast in as per the recipe. I think I had less problems when I was taking chemistry in school. My results have been mixed from construction materials to actual bread. Problem is that I've usually changed more than just one thing at a time to properly isolate the cause of the results in most cases.

  • does the type of yeast affect the baking in a bread machine?

Hi, I've been baking gluten and dairy free bread in the bread machine that we just got for Christmas. The problem is that the first loaf came out a little heavy but OK the rest of them have been bordering on construction material or Medieval catapult ammunition.

The only thing that I changed between the first and subsequent runs was the yeast. The first run was done with quick rising yeast and the subsequent runs were done with bread making machine yeast. Logic tells me to go back to the quick rising, but this is all new to me so does anyone have any advise? Thank you all in advance

  • What is up with the "my comments" and well the whole comments in general?

It just started a few days ago that the "My Comments" tab in Yahoo news stopped working. Clicking on the tab only gets the rotating arrows to show that something MIGHT be going on, but they NEVER load. In addition the Notifications indicator shows that new comments have been made BUT it never indicates if a comment is in reply to my postings.

Would be nice if Yahoo would at least indicate that there might be a problem and let folks know. As frustrated people will stop using the service and advertising revenues will go down.

  • gluten free bread in bread machine?

I was wondering if anyone has looked at the cost ($ and time) of making their own gluten free bread in a bread machine over buying it in the shops. Yes I know by making it my self I know what's in it, yadda yadda yadda. What I'm looking at is whether I should buy a bread machine or just buy the stuff in the shops.

Also if anyone has done it how does it turn out? The stuff from the shops has been iffy.

  • Hyundai 2012 Santa Fe disk brakes problem?

we're having problems with the disk brakes in the back they are dragging, grinding and when making a right hand turn they really make a grinding noise. The dealer is looking into it so don't worry about that. If you want to try and diagnose the problem if the car is left overnight with the parking brake on it doesn't grind when driven in the morning.

I noticed that there was a difference in the smoothness of the rotators between front and back. Back being more rough (duh the brakes are grinding). The service manager says that this is normal because the way the brakes are set up is different between front and back. I'd like to call BS on his statement but I don't know enough about to call it. In my mind without any problems with the brakes the rotators should be smooth (but showing wear) in all four corners.

Thanks in advance for any information

  • Is it OK to use a travel mug in the DR?

When we go to all inclusive resorts in Cuba we always bring our travel mugs with us for drinks from the bar. We do this for environmental reasons, just because we get more booze in the mugs and is kept colder longer is PURELY by coincidence, it is for the environment. LOL

Being this is our first time to the DR I was wondering if the resorts get their knickers in a knot if you bring your own thermal mug for drinks.

  • does the Majestic Elegance Punta Cana use wrist bands?

Going to a new resort in a new place for us. The hotels we stay at in Cuba do not use wristbands as they are adult only places. The Majestic Elegance is adult only BUT I really don't like the idea of having to wear a wrist band for the entire week to get service. Also how does it work with the premium booze? A buddy of mine got stuck with a bar bill for the premium booze in Mexico, he wasn't a happy camper at check out and LOL his wife wasn't happy with him. All he said to me was that you have to be careful when ordering drinks.

  • Can you set Windows 8 to the OLD windows desktop?

I was looking at getting a new machine and I really hated 7 on a tablet at the office and now it is Windows 8 and looking at it in the shops I hate it more. OK I agree that it is new and I'll have to get used to it BUT is there anyway to fall back to the standard windows desktop rather than use the 8 tiles?

  • excursions from the resort?

Hi gang, we are going to the DR in February for the first time and from what we have read on line from Trip Advisor the excursions can be an iffy proposition. Just wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with some of the excursions good or bad. BTW she who must be obeyed has ruled out zip lining but we are going with other people and I might be up for it if some of the other guy's wives let them go.

  • Heading to the DR for the first time in Feb any advise?

We are going to a wedding in Feb in the DR and it will be our first time there, (been to Cuba & Jamaica), any advise for the first timers (the hotel and airline are pre-booked by the bride and groom) vis-a-vie; weather (I can look it up), people, tipping, currency exchanges (stupid tourist tax), excursions and anything else you can think of. Thanks

  • how to create video noise in a video?

I'm shooting a video BUT what I need is video noise/pixelation at the start and during the video. What I'm looking for is the type of video noise that is present in movies and TV when video communications between two points are being started or interrupted. I can do it brute force but I'd rather not have to do it that way.

  • why do cars with manual transmission slow down faster than ones with automatic transmission?

Something I've noticed and always wondered about is that when I take my foot off the gas in a manual transmission car it slows down faster than an automatic.

  • Is the Belfast train station at the Europa Buscentre, on Glengall Street,?

haven't been there in a long long long time and I'm trying to give directions to my daughter who is going to Belfast by bus and then on to Bangor by train to meet up with relatives. I have the Translink schedules but the last time I took the train from Belfast I was in short pants. :)

I've looked with Google Earth and it is unclear to me.

  • What is Stephen Harper afraid of?

Besides loosing his cushy job, The man who expects to lead this country and our brave troops seems to be afraid of the population of Canada! He throws out people who have Iggy on their facebook page, won't answer more than 5 written questions and won't step outside the photo ops. Seems to me he is afraid of something

  • planing a holiday to the Republic of Ireland in August?

We are planning on visiting Ireland (south), in August and were looking for some things to do away from the major tourist attractions and big cities. Nothing too adventurous

If you get you don't like the term "south" to differentiate from Ulster don't bother answering this, I don't need your negativity.

  • Cheap airfare from Canada to Belfast?

Planning a trip to Belfast in the near future and I was wondering if anyone has a lead on a discount airline. I've been to all the cheap flight web sites so don't bother posting them again.

  • Dirk Pitt novels, when was his kids introduced to the story line.?

I just picked up a Dirk Pitt novel by Clive Cussler and it has Dirk's adult children. In the story line Clive says that Dirk didn't know he had children until Dirk Jr and Summer contacted him. I was wondering which novel did Clive introduce the children to the story line.
