How can I tell my best friend that I love her?

I'm a 16 year old lesbian, and in love with my best friend. She is the most incredible girl in the world. She's beautiful, funny, scary smart and genuinely cares about me. She does identify as straight, but in the two years I have known her, she has never dated a boy or even had a crush on one. I don't think she's asexual, though. I know enough about her to know that she could only be in a relationship with someone she trusts deeply, and while she is super uncomfortable with most people touching her, she lets me put my head in her lap when we're sitting on the ground. I think there might be something here, but how can I tell her without freaking her out? I'm worried that if I tell her, she'll just retreat from me.

dont bother..she's straight...also the way you describe..she sounds more like an asexualthats a demisexual. demi's are part of the ace comunity cuz they dont have sex very often...& ONLY with someone they are really in love with! (not to be confused with the grey-a's..they rarely have sex too..but without a bond.) either way...you said it yourself she's straight...at the least a hetroromantic demisexual ace. (there are romantic as well as sexual orientations...check AVEN the online ace community for more details).....you're a girl? she wont be interested in anything beyond a simple cuddle. you need far more sex then that so i suggest finding another actual lesbian/bisexual girl to be with in that way.

go for it! just tell her in a nice way. be honest with her, and be honest with yourself. there's nothing wrong of telling the truth. just give a shot on it!
