Why is the weather so cold this spring 2013?

I live in the UK, but I also see reports from Russia and USA too that there is still snow and freezing temperatures. Is there any scientific reason for this colder-than-usual climate?

The main reasons are that over the western hemisphere there are upper ridges over the Atlantic and eastern Pacific, which is allowing for cold air to spill southward ahead of them over the U.S. and much of Europe into western Russia. This setup is partially the result of the Arctic Oscillation having been in a negative phase for a while. Last year it was positive which helped create the warm winter across the U.S.

It's just natural variability in weather patterns over a long period of time. Nothing is really amiss.

Iam wondering the same thing! I live in Tennessee and its still has cold weather, It's like on and off like this weekend it's been warm but rainy and then it's sayin that for the week it's suppose to be in the 30's for the first 2 days of the week then 50's one day then 57 the last 2 days Iam soooo tired of this flip floppiness.

There is a black spot on the sun and that means we are in for a decade or so of harsh Winters and cooler Summers.
