Printing problems please help?

Please help, whenever I try to print a document or picture I get as far as the print preview screen and as soon as I click the print button another window opens which is a folder that I have deleted from the computer, so no longer exists and I am prompted to "save as" I also have a notification window that tells me the location I am trying to save the document to is no longer available. Well I did delete it.

I have reconfigured my printer (wireless) and at the end of the reconfiguration I was prompted to "print a test page"

The test page printed without a problem so I am happy that the computer is connecting to the printer. Further attempts to print documents have failed as before

It therefore appears that the "print" button is sending my documents to the wrong place.

Any help with this problem would be thankfully received.

Update:

Thanks for the reply guys, printer is set as default, I have also re installed from scratch but still have the same problem

Update 2:

Thanks for your answers, the printer was working perfectly well the last time I used it and I have not changed any settings. I have since performed a system restore and this has cleared the problem.

Once again guys, thanks

Make sure your printer is set to be the default printer. Sometimes, Microsoft XPS document writer is set to be the default printer. And I think it just prompts to save as.

In the control panel / printers, right-click on your printer and make sure "Set as default printer" is checked.

you have set your application to PRINT to a FILE instead of the actual printer.

do not press the PRINT BUTTON instead choose File PRINT and see what options you get.

you may have POINTED the PRINT to a DIFFERENT PRINTER like a Vitual Microsoft Document printer or PDF printer.

you can also OPEN Control Panel--->Printers and SET the default printer
