Collecting train ticket from ticket machine?

So I know it says to bring credit/debit card and the collection reference number too but right now I'm getting a new PIN number because I've forgotten my old one. I need to collect the tickets on Wednesday, my new PIN won't be ready by then. Apparently you only need the card for identification so you slot it in then only enter the collection reference number you received when you made the booking. You don't need your PIN number when collecting tickets from the machine do you? I would have thought that it would only use PIN numbers when charging you for something but since the tickets are pre-paid as I'm collecting them that would not happen. This is in the UK. Do I need my PIN number or not?

No PIN required. It just checks your name.

You only need the card and the number. You don't need to insert your pin.

No you are exactly right, you need the physical card plus the reference number. You have already paid so this is not a payment transaction.
