will a cheque be valid and cashable if it says Abbey instead of Santander?

i plan on writing someone a cheque for a quantity of money i bank with santander the last cheque book i was issued was when the bank was called Abbey would the recipient of the cheque be able to pay it in at their bank if my account details haven't changed just the bank name

    Check on your bank statement or online banking, As long as the sort code and account number are the same then it will be ok. If either of those numbers have changed then you need to contact Santander.

    Not sure, it's not been Abbey for years. This is something you should contact Santander about.

    The cheque is not cashable,unless the person that issued the cheque for you make the correction himself and sighed it.thanks
