what does having two popes mean to the faithful--caths and Real Christians-Chirst-centric?
there is something wrong--it has never occurred before ever, a warning in the Bible, and means something disturbing. So what can you add and help me with this concept?
good answers but let me add Revelations 17:8 as it speaks of a beast that was, and is not and shall return from the bottomless pit. Beast refers to one.
Please read the book of Revelations and the verse given.
Although there is evidence that two 'popes' have existed, the present situation where one pope was and is not--Benedict was but now is not yet he still has influence-this once in a lifetime means more---one retired but still has power while the new pope has his own influence. It goes further but I think this goes beyond what the eyes see. It is not nice one bit.

Throughout the entire history of Christianity and Judaism, we have had one Father, and that is The Lord Almighty, the head of the genealogy tree of the human race. The reason He likes to be called Father is because He created humanity.

The media is kind of misleading on this. There have been multiple times when there have been two Popes through history, and multiple times of a Pope abdicating the position.
With the only exception being Benedict, all of these occurrences through history have involved an antipope.

{edit}
Rev 17:8 isn't at all applicable here. The antipope is not this mythical 'antichrist' figure. The antipope is a person claimed to be the legitimately elected pope in opposition to another person claimed to be the legitimately elected pope.
The point here is that you have let the media deliver you misinformation as they attempt to make this abdication of Benedict seem unusual when it historically isn't.
This is why real history needs to be taught in schools . . .

If Benedict is still attempting to exert influence in a religious manner, and that manner is in opposition to Francis, then you have an antipope. If what he says is inline with the direction Francis wishes to take the church, then you do not.
There's nothing more than that.
Nothing beyond 'what the eye can see'. He either is or is not asserting hi sinfluence in accordance with the current papacy. If his wishes are contray to the current papal desires, why listen to him? He isn't the Pope. He has no real influence over the Catholic church. He's just an old retired man now.

Not sure what you are talking about but there have been two popes before.

So ya it's not really that big of a deal.
